Mayall shares his musical "leftovers"

Earlier today, NBB's own omega wolf Mark Mayall shared his five song selections on 101.7 WFNX's "Leftover Lunch." Each Friday a listener-submitted list of classic alternative tunes is chosen and that listener introduces their songs on-air. Mayall's selections:

Fugazi "Waiting Room"
Berlin "Metro"
U2 "Out of Control"
David Bowie "Changes"
Depeche Mode "Enjoy the Silence"

For having his songs chosen, Mayall received a pair of tickets to...House of Pain, appearing March 20th at the Worcester Palladium.

On a related note, if you or anyone you know of would be interested in purchasing two tickets to see House of Pain on March 20th at the Worcester Palladium, please contact Mark at your earliest convenience.

  1. First winning the USATF prediction contest, now this...everything's coming up Mayall!

Oh my, where to begin...is that you about 50secs-1min into the Fugazi video?

    Depeche Mode? Berlin?
Who are you and what have you done with Mark Mayall?
And you left out Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark!
I'm trying to get the image of you with a Flock of Seagulls haircut out of my mind.

I'll pass on the tickets...see if you can trade them for the English Beat/Fishbone show next Friday and get back to me.

    Cheers,

    Kevin

  2. Well now, somebody sounds a little jealous.

That is not me in the Fugazi video, I wasn't in DC in 1988. In fact it's Guy Picciotto who was one of the singer/guitarists in the band (along with the legendary Ian MacKaye). This is also him. I've been told there's a resemblance. I don't know what they're talking about.

Mentioning hackneyed has-beens like OMD and the Flock of Seagulls in the same breath as Depeche Mode...I mean really. That song is a classic, the video glorious to behold. The video for "Metro" is hilariously bad but the song itself stands the test of time.

Good luck with that Fishbone show...surprisingly enough I hear tickets are still available. Don't know if you can say the same for House of Pain. Remember folks if you're interested in seeing Everlast and DJ Lethal back together again just let me know. They may even do a Limp Bizkit song or two.

  3. Since the whole team is now 25 years old, this is well before our time.

btw, Dan saw House of Pain at the Palladium 17 years ago and may be interested in reliving his high school days. I'll let you know if we take you up on those tickets. What's the going rate?
