Halloween Costume Contest

Saturday is Halloween and what better way to celebrate than to have a Costume Contest at practice.

I will not be able to attend but photos will be posted and will be judged. I'll bring the (to-be-determined) prize to practice on Tuesday.

So, show up to practice in a costume. Extra points if you can wear the costume to do the workout in, and do the workout well (big Coke can costume equals funny, but not easy to run in).

Have fun and tell me all about it here!

The ladies of New Balance Boston, second-place team at Mayor's Cup 2009. A little grainy, but best I could do with a camera phone.

Website skills?

Former NBBer Adam Stuhlfaut is opening a running specialty store in Plymouth this winter. He's looking for someone who can design a website for his new business and is willing to provide compensation for your help!  Ideally the website will:
a) allow him to edit and update the website in a relatively easy fashion
b) be able to link to Facebook and Twitter.

If you're interested in the gig, please contact Adam at:

Large NBB roster for Mayor's cup

On Sunday at Mayor's Cup, NBB numbers will be large and strong. With participants in the Franklin 5k, the women's and men's races, we'll be sure to see lots of orange and grey/yellow.

Saturday's forecasted rain will likely leave the course a sloppy mess for Sunday. And some of us like it just that way.

Following in post-race tradition, we'll meet for a breakfast with beer at Doyle's Cafe (3484 Washington St. Jamaica Plain).

Push-Up Power!

Resident NBB Push-Up Champion Karina Johnson shows the boys how it's done...

Challengers are welcome! Report your results by hitting the "Comments" button, but be forewarned: proof will be required at practice, according to the "Phil Mainwaring unicycle rule" established in spring 2009.

Thanks to FloTrack for highlighting Karina's push-up prowess!

Women descend on Boston

On Monday, the Annual Tufts 10k will take place in Boston. The women's running event has a lot of history and shows the strength and pride in women's fitness. Spectacular races have been mixed with amazing stories of the women that have participated and the friends and family that have supported them.

This year, the New Balance Boston women's team will defend their title.
2008 (2 teams) - 1st Place, 7th Place
2007 (2 teams) - 2nd Place, 7th Place
2006 - 1st Place

2016 Olympics: Rio!

Chicago was a candidate city for the 2016 Olympics. As an athlete and a US resident, what are your thoughts?

Should the Olympics have gone to another city (Chicago, Tokyo, Madrid)?

Website update

The NBB website is back in functioning form. The calendar and practice location maps are available via the link.

The athlete biography pages are being updated periodically as the information comes in from the athletes.

Thank you for your patience.
